Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris was reportedly rushed to the hospital in critical condition Thursday night after suffering a frightening medical emergency just minutes before the legendary group was set to take the stage in San Francisco.

Paris experienced what was described as a “cardiac incident” at the Chase Center and was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital, TMZ reported.

The terrifying scare forced Earth, Wind & Fire to abruptly postpone its highly anticipated concert with Lionel Richie on Thursday, Aug. 6.

Fans were already gathering inside the arena when the Chase Center announced the sudden change shortly after 7:20 p.m. — only about 10 minutes before the scheduled 7:30 p.m. start time.

“We are unable to perform as scheduled tonight at Chase Center in San Francisco due to a medical emergency involving a member of our band,” Earth, Wind & Fire said in a statement.

“As a result, tonight’s show with Lionel Richie will be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced soon.”

The band added that fans should hold on to their tickets, which will be honored for the rescheduled performance. Refunds will also be available at the original point of purchase.

“We sincerely apologize for the unexpected change and appreciate everyone’s understanding,” the statement continued.

According to TMZ, Paris was taken from the Chase Center by paramedics and was listed in critical condition following the reported cardiac emergency.

The hospital has not publicly identified the patient or released additional medical details.

Paris has performed with Earth, Wind & Fire for years, appearing alongside longtime members Verdine White, Philip Bailey and Ralph Johnson.

The current lineup also includes Myron McKinley, Oshun Shango Oshunde, Morris O’Connor, Serg Dimitrijevic and B. David Whitworth.

The health emergency comes during Earth, Wind & Fire’s joint tour with Richie, bringing together two of the biggest names in American pop, soul and R&B history.

Richie himself suffered a frightening health scare onstage just weeks earlier.

During a June performance in St. Paul, Minnesota, the 77-year-old singer reportedly told the crowd he suddenly felt “dizzy” and “strange,” forcing him to end his performance early.

Thursday’s concert had been scheduled for the Chase Center, the $1.4 billion home of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood.

Despite the alarming incident, the tour’s upcoming schedule currently has the performers heading to Palm Desert on Saturday, followed by concerts in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Austin.

It was not immediately clear whether those shows would go ahead as planned following Paris’ hospitalization.
