Rosie O’Donnell may not be completely done with The View after all.

Nearly two decades after her headline-making run on the daytime talk show — and her infamous on-air blowup with Elisabeth Hasselbeck — O’Donnell admitted she would consider returning to the table.

But there is a catch.

The 64-year-old comedian and former talk show host said she would be open to appearing on The View again, though only as a guest.

“Next season is the 30th anniversary and Ana Navarro mentioned that when I did her podcast recently,” O’Donnell said while discussing the possibility of revisiting her time on the long-running ABC show.

“I think that I would, and just be a guest,” she continued. “I do think that for me, it’s not the best use of my time or talent to be arguing about politics with people, just in general, as a form of entertainment. It’s not where I shine the most.”

Still, O’Donnell made it clear her decision is not about a lack of interest in the country or the issues being discussed.

“But I am a very patriotic American,” she added. “I love this country.”

O’Donnell’s comments come years after one of the most talked-about moments in The View history: her heated 2007 clash with Hasselbeck over foreign policy and the war in Iraq.

The tense exchange between the two co-hosts became even more dramatic when the show aired them in a split-screen format, a production choice O’Donnell later suggested may have been planned in advance.

During an October 2025 appearance on the Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel radio show, O’Donnell claimed the moment did not feel spontaneous.

“Our producer was not an on-the-fly kind of guy. He wasn’t like, Mr. Let’s-Go-To-a-Split-Screen,” she alleged. “That was prepared. The whole thing, I think, was a setup.”

Hasselbeck pushed back hard against that claim.

In an emotional Instagram update at the time, Hasselbeck denied O’Donnell’s version of events and urged her former co-host to stop repeating it.

“Stop lying, stop, stop, and in the meantime, and even maybe if you don’t stop, I still forgive you,” Hasselbeck said. “It can just be so much more free, Rosie, if you can just stop. Stop the madness, stop the lying, and just be free.”

The fallout from that moment has followed both women for years.

Earlier this month, O’Donnell was asked if she had a least favorite co-host from her time on The View, and her answer pointed back to the same longtime tension.

“Listen, it’s known that me and Elisabeth Hasselbeck did not have a great ending to our friendship, so I would say that was the most problematic, perhaps,” O’Donnell told People.

But she also admitted their relationship was not always bad.

“We did get along right up until the end, and then it blew up on national TV,” she said.

O’Donnell even confessed that, from time to time, she still watches the infamous fight when it resurfaces.

“If the Elisabeth Hasselbeck fight is on, I’m like, ‘Let me try to remember what this felt like.’ You know?” she said.

While her relationship with Hasselbeck remains complicated, O’Donnell had warmer words for another former View co-host: Joy Behar.

When asked about her favorite co-host, O’Donnell did not hesitate.

“My favorite probably is Behar. I like Joy Behar,” she said. “We did stand up together for many years and she used to call me ‘Little One,’ because I was a young comic in my 20s.”

For now, O’Donnell appears to be leaving the door slightly open — just not wide enough for a full-time return to the table.

A guest appearance for The View’s 30th anniversary may be possible. A daily seat in the middle of political warfare? That sounds like a much harder sell.
