Prince Harry caused a stir on MasterChef Australia after making a surprise FaceTime call to Meghan Markle while she was guest judging Sunday’s episode.
The Duchess of Sussex was in the middle of tasting dishes from contestants when a production crew member walked over and told her there was “a phone call to the studio.”

“Hi my love!” Her showing him around the set, introducing the judges, and teasing him over the spicy sambal is too sweet. The contestants couldn’t believe their eyes! #masterchef pic.twitter.com/dLGykwJ6ub
At first, Meghan looked slightly worried. But the moment she saw Harry’s face on the screen, she broke into a huge smile.
“Hi, my love!” she said.
The judges around her, including Poh Ling Yeow and Sofia Levin, immediately started laughing and smiling as Harry greeted the room with a casual, “G’day.”
“My husband’s here,” Meghan told the audience, turning the phone around so everyone could see the Duke of Sussex on the call.
The studio quickly erupted, with spectators shrieking, cheering and waving as Harry appeared on screen.
“What’s going on? Have I interrupted something important?” Harry joked.
Meghan explained that they were “actually in the middle of tasting all the dishes,” before showing him the plates and excitedly telling him about her favorite bites.
The former Suits star also introduced Harry to several of the contestants, including Aaron Kher, Casper Kenworthy and Petro Papathomas.
“It’s amazing,” Meghan said, clearly thrilled by the experience. “They’re so talented.”
She then told the other judges that Harry was in Canberra, Australia, spending time with veterans.
“We wish you were here,” she told him.
Harry kept the call brief, telling his wife, “Well, go and enjoy it. I’m very sorry to disturb you. All is well here. I’ll see you later.”
The sweet exchange quickly lit up social media, where fans praised the couple’s public show of support.
“Wow, these two are so in love,” one viewer wrote on X.
Another fan gushed that Harry and Meghan “will always do whatever it takes to show up and support one another,” calling it one of the reasons their marriage works.
A third viewer called the moment “sweet,” adding that everyone in the studio would probably remember it forever.
But not everyone was charmed.
Some critics accused the call of being awkward and staged, with one viewer bluntly calling it “absolute cringe.”
Another questioned whether Harry had really called unexpectedly, while others dismissed the moment as “so fake” and “so staged.”
Meghan filmed the MasterChef Australia appearance earlier this year while she and Harry were visiting the country. An insider later told Page Six that the duchess “had a great time” on set with Poh and the rest of the judges.
Harry and Meghan married in 2018 and share two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5. It remains unclear whether the children joined them during the Australia trip.
