Tom Brady may not be finished chasing glory after all — and this time, the prize could be the White House.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion, 48, is now at the center of a jaw-dropping new theory after NFL insider Mike Florio suggested Brady’s rumored move into WWE may be more than just another celebrity stunt. According to Florio, the football legend’s possible leap into the wrestling world could be part of a much bigger power play to build support for a future presidential run.

Yes, really.

Brady, already one of the most famous athletes in American history, has reportedly been in talks about making a WWE appearance as he continues to grow his post-NFL empire. But Florio believes the move could have a political angle hiding in plain sight.

“I spoke yesterday about Tom Brady’s foray into the world of WWE and I got an email from a reader that I think may have been more accurate than I initially wanted to admit,” Florio said.

At first glance, a Brady WWE cameo sounds like another bizarre chapter in the former quarterback’s endless reinvention tour. Since leaving football, he has stayed glued to the spotlight through broadcasting, business deals, ownership moves, and high-profile public appearances.

But Florio said there may be two very different ways to read Brady’s latest rumored move.

“One, it’s a sort of bizarre mid-life crisis for Tom Brady,” Florio said. “It’s an exercise in ego, can’t get enough, got to do more.”

Then came the bombshell.

“There’s also a chance it is part of a broader plan,” Florio continued. “Is Tom Brady trying to cozy up to the wrestling base when it comes to running for office?”

That question instantly turned a celebrity sports rumor into something far more explosive.

WWE is not just another entertainment brand. It has a massive, fiercely loyal fanbase, deep ties to American pop culture, and a history of blending fame, politics, patriotism, controversy, and spectacle. And according to Florio, the idea of Brady entering politics has been whispered about before.

“I did research this morning and the idea of Tom Brady running for president is not some new thing,” he said.

The political talk becomes even more stunning because of Brady’s past connection to disgraced crypto king Sam Bankman-Fried.

Before FTX collapsed in disgrace, Brady was one of the celebrity faces attached to the company. He served as an ambassador and reportedly received shares that later became essentially worthless when the cryptocurrency giant imploded.

Bankman-Fried is now behind bars, serving a 25-year prison sentence after the massive fraud scandal that rocked hundreds of thousands of customers and turned FTX from a flashy digital empire into a cautionary tale.

But according to a February 2024 report from Puck, Bankman-Fried allegedly had a wild political fantasy involving Brady. The report claimed the fallen FTX founder told people around him that he wanted Brady to run for the Republican presidential nomination — and even floated the idea of Brady taking on Donald Trump before Trump secured the nomination and ultimately returned to the White House.

Florio brought that report back into the spotlight as he discussed Brady’s possible long game.

“Sam Bankman-Fried was reportedly urging Brady to run in 2024,” Florio said. “Sam Bankman-Fried, who was at one point a business partner of Tom Brady’s and is now behind bars serving a sentence for the various things that happened when FTX collapsed.”

Florio also questioned why Brady’s FTX connection has not damaged him more publicly.

“I don’t know how that hasn’t stuck to Brady in the way that it should,” he said. “But that’s a different issue.”

Still, Florio said the disgraced crypto mogul allegedly believed Brady could have been a more powerful political force than Trump.

“He thought that Brady would be a superior candidate to the person who eventually got the Republican nomination and won his second term in the White House,” Florio said.

That is where the story takes an even wilder turn.

For decades, presidential candidates usually came from politics, law, the military, or government. But in modern America, celebrity has become a political weapon. Fame, loyalty, media attention, and name recognition can turn an outsider into a movement almost overnight.

And Brady has all of that.

He has the rings. He has the money. He has the business résumé. He has the TV platform. He has the celebrity connections. He has a built-in fanbase that spans generations. “We know how the world is now,” he said. “You don’t have to be a career politician. You don’t have to have any experience running anything. Brady at least has experience in business, experience in sports, life experiences, name recognition.”

A carefully staged appearance in the wrestling ring could let Brady show a tougher, louder, more populist side of himself. It could also connect him with fans who love larger-than-life personalities and blunt, dramatic storytelling — the same ingredients that now dominate much of American politics.

But Florio also suggested there may be danger in Brady overexposing himself.

“Maybe that’s the play,” Florio said. “And the good news would be if he ever would run for president and win, maybe at that point Tom Brady would focus on one job and one job only.”

For now, Brady has not announced any campaign, and there is no official sign that he is preparing to run for public office. But the speculation is no longer easy to ignore.
