Boy Plunges 50 Feet at Disneyland’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

A 13-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after a terrifying mid-ride scare at Disneyland’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ended with him tumbling down the attraction’s famous 50-foot drop.

The frightening incident happened Sunday after the teen allegedly climbed out of the log ride just before the big plunge at the end of the popular water attraction, according to TMZ.

Instead of staying seated as the ride approached the final drop, the boy reportedly got out and slid down the steep waterfall on his own — turning a family-friendly Disney ride into a real-life nightmare.

TMZ later obtained video that appears to show the shocking moment the teenager went down the massive drop.

A Disneyland source told the outlet the boy was transported to a local hospital as a precaution after the fall. He was evaluated and later released.

The ride, which replaced the longtime Splash Mountain attraction, was temporarily stopped after the incident.

One Reddit user claimed they witnessed the chaos firsthand, saying their log was passing by when they saw the boy take the frightening plunge. The rider claimed the attraction was stopped for about 10 minutes before it eventually resumed.

When guests got off the ride, the witness said several Disney security officers were waiting near a woman and two children who appeared to be soaked from the ordeal.

California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health reportedly inspected the attraction afterward.

Despite the terrifying scare, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was back open and operating by Monday.

The ride features a dramatic 50-foot waterfall drop near the end — one of the most recognizable thrills at the Anaheim theme park.

  1. Nothing is proof against stupid, nor can all the stupid be detected and excluded in advance. The kid is lucky he survived reasonably unharmed; maybe lessons were learned, but I wouldn’t risk a bet on that.
