A skydiving company employee was killed in a horrifying accident after authorities say he walked into a plane propeller that was still spinning.

The victim was identified as Eduardo Hernandez, 40, of Tucson, Arizona.

The deadly incident happened Saturday, June 13, at Skydive Marana, located at the Marana Regional Airport in Arizona.

According to the Marana Police Department, officers rushed to the skydiving business after receiving a report about an injured person at the scene.

Police said officers and Northwest Fire District crews immediately began lifesaving measures and provided emergency medical care. But despite their efforts, Hernandez could not be saved.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Hernandez worked for Skydive Marana.

Police said their preliminary investigation found no signs of foul play, and the death appears to have been a tragic accident.

A preliminary report from the Federal Aviation Administration revealed chilling details about what investigators believe happened.

According to the report, a Cessna aircraft had landed and was parked on the airport ramp when the accident occurred.

“An employee exited and walked into the prop which was still running,” the FAA report stated, according to KTAR.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Skydive Marana has not publicly commented on the incident.

The tragedy marks the third fatal incident at Marana Regional Airport in less than two years, according to local reports.

In April, two people were killed when a small plane crashed while attempting to land at the airport. The victims were later identified by colleagues as Chris Sheaf and his wife, Jacque.

Hernandez’s death has now added another heartbreaking chapter to the airport’s recent history of fatal accidents.
