How I Met Your Mother Actor Sentenced to 32 Years to Life After Horrific Attack on Ex-Girlfriend
Actor Nick Pasqual has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison after being convicted in a shocking attack on his estranged girlfriend, Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn.
Pasqual, who had a small role on How I Met Your Mother, was sentenced Tuesday after a jury found him guilty last month of attempted murder and other serious charges tied to the violent 2024 attack.
The case stunned Hollywood after prosecutors said Pasqual broke into Shehorn’s Sunland, California, home and stabbed her more than 20 times.
Shehorn survived the terrifying assault, but only after a long and painful recovery that reportedly included breathing tubes and feeding tubes while she was hospitalized.
Pasqual was found guilty on May 8 of attempted murder, first-degree burglary, forcible rape, and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or a child’s parent.
The charges stemmed from a series of alleged crimes between January 2024 and May 23, 2024, ending with the brutal stabbing inside Shehorn’s home.
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman praised Shehorn for her courage after she testified against Pasqual in court.
“Today’s 32 years to life sentence holds Nick Pasqual accountable for the horrific crimes he committed against someone who once loved and trusted him,” Hochman said in a statement.
The district attorney said Shehorn “miraculously survived” after Pasqual broke into her home and attacked her.
He added that her testimony was crucial in helping secure a guilty verdict so Pasqual “could no longer be free to hurt anyone else.”
Shehorn, a makeup artist whose credits include Rebel Moon, Babylon, and Mean Girls, took the stand during the trial with visible scars on her arm and neck.
She told the court that she tried to get away from Pasqual during the attack.
“I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open, and I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there’s another lock on that door,” Shehorn testified, according to ABC News.
The horrifying attack came after Shehorn alleged that her relationship with Pasqual had turned abusive.
After the stabbing, Pasqual fled California. He was later arrested at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Texas.
Pasqual, who is appealing the ruling, gave a statement through his representatives after the sentencing.
“I remain deeply saddened by everything surrounding this case, and I continue to wish healing and peace for everyone affected,” he said.
“I am grateful to those who have supported me during this process, and I intend to remain focused on sobriety, recovery, accountability, and a respectful appellate process moving forward.”
Pasqual’s acting credits include a 2011 episode of How I Met Your Mother, 44 episodes of the web sketch comedy series National Day Riff, and small roles in Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire and the Steve Jobs biopic Jobs.
Shehorn’s friends launched a GoFundMe after the attack to help cover her medical expenses as she recovered from the near-fatal assault.
For Shehorn, the sentencing marked a dramatic end to a nightmare case that began inside her own home and ended with her facing her attacker in court.
Now, Pasqual is looking at decades behind bars while Shehorn continues to rebuild her life after an attack prosecutors described as both brutal and deeply personal.
