Nun Savagely Attacked on Sacred Ground in Chilling Video

A quiet walk through one of the world’s holiest sites turned into a nightmare in seconds — and the shocking moment was all caught on camera.

A 48-year-old nun was brutally attacked in the heart of Jerusalem this week, shoved to the ground and repeatedly kicked in a disturbing assault that has ignited international outrage.

Harrowing CCTV footage from Tuesday shows a man suddenly sprinting toward the unsuspecting nun as she walks near the historic Cenacle on Mount Zion — a site revered by both Christians and Jews. Without warning, he violently pushes her to the ground.

The impact is brutal.

The nun collapses hard onto the stone, clutching her head in visible agony. For a moment, it looks like the attack is over.

But then it gets even worse.

The attacker casually walks away — only to turn around, stride back, and begin kicking the defenseless woman as she lies on the ground. The savage beating continues until a bystander rushes in and intervenes, finally forcing the man to stop.

Police later confirmed the suspect, a 36-year-old man, has been arrested. Authorities say they are treating the case with “utmost severity,” especially as investigators look into whether the attack was driven by religious or racist motives.

Officials have not publicly identified the suspect, though local reports indicate he may be Jewish. Video released by police shows the attacker wearing tzitzit, a traditional fringed garment worn by some observant Jewish men.

The victim, described as a researcher affiliated with a respected religious academic institution, suffered heavy bruising to her face and body. According to Father Olivier Poquillon, she was thrown “with full force onto a rock” before being repeatedly kicked.

He called the incident a “gratuitous assault” and warned it reflects something deeper and more troubling.

And he’s not alone.

Leaders across the region — including Israel’s foreign ministry — condemned the attack as a “shameful act,” while academics at Hebrew University said it fits a disturbing pattern of rising hostility toward Christians in the area.

Some observers say attacks like this are becoming alarmingly common.

One European diplomatic source claimed clergy members in religious dress are increasingly targeted with insults, harassment — and even spitting — on a near-daily basis by extremists.

Wadie Abunassar, a coordinator for a Christian advocacy group, didn’t hold back.

He warned that weak enforcement and lenient consequences are fueling the problem, saying many suspects are released quickly — if they’re arrested at all.

“There is great anger and great sadness,” he said, adding bluntly: “This will not end anytime soon.”

The incident comes amid growing tension in the region, including a separate controversy earlier this month when Israeli soldiers were punished after destroying a statue of Jesus Christ in southern Lebanon — a move that also sparked global backlash.

For many watching this latest attack unfold, one question is now front and center:

Is this an isolated act of violence — or a warning sign of something much bigger?
