Actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson delivered a fiery speech condemning sex trafficking at the America’s Future Champions for America Celebration Gala on Tuesday. The event, held at President-elect Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, featured a star-studded lineup, including Kid Rock and Tucker Carlson.
The gala—a high-profile fundraiser with tickets ranging from $3,800 to $5,000—drew attention not just for its guest list but also for Gibson’s impassioned remarks. Addressing the audience, he praised retired General Michael Flynn for his efforts in combating sex trafficking, saying, “He’s exposing all these wolves in sheep’s clothing that prey upon our young.”
The “Lethal Weapon” star didn’t hold back when expressing his personal connection to the issue. “I have nine kids,” Gibson said. “If one of them got stolen or trafficked, I’d have to kill someone.” His comment drew applause from the crowd, underscoring the shared outrage over the global crisis of human trafficking.
Gibson’s involvement in raising awareness about this issue is not new. He served as an executive producer for the 2023 film Sound of Freedom, a box-office hit spotlighting the horrors of child trafficking. “This isn’t just a problem abroad,” he added. “It’s happening here, in our neighborhoods.”
Gibson’s speech also veered into political commentary. He described the past few years under President Joe Biden as a period of “thinly-veiled Marxism” and called Trump’s upcoming term a “four-year grace period.”
“We have to work hard,” he urged. “The president’s got a big job ahead of him to turn this place around. A lot of damage has been done.” He concluded with a hopeful note, expressing confidence in Trump’s ability to reclaim power from what he referred to as “the philistines.”
Gibson’s remarks highlighted Flynn’s advocacy against trafficking. The retired general, who has been a controversial figure for promoting conspiracy theories, was lauded by Gibson as “a critical force in the fight against evil.” Flynn, in response, acknowledged Gibson’s support, stating, “It’s an honor to stand with someone so committed to justice.”

While Gibson’s comments were met with enthusiasm by the gala attendees, reactions online were mixed. Supporters praised his dedication to exposing trafficking networks, while critics pointed to his political statements as divisive.
One attendee, Mary Simons, a Florida resident and mother of three, expressed her appreciation for Gibson’s bluntness. “It’s refreshing to see someone in Hollywood take a stand for our kids,” she said. Meanwhile, others on social media questioned the efficacy of high-profile speeches in driving real change.
A Call to Action
Closing his address, Gibson called for unity and vigilance. “I hope in the next four years, we can claw back some of that precious commodity called freedom,” he said. “We owe it to the next generation to fight for their safety and their future.”
Gibson’s passionate speech at the Mar-a-Lago gala highlighted not only the urgency of addressing sex trafficking but also the broader cultural and political challenges facing the nation. Whether his words will inspire actionable change remains to be seen.

I’d love to thank all of those especially Mel Gibson for standing up for children’s rights. They never did find all those 80,000 that come out of lost and I’m glad that Hollywood there are people that have a conscience. I did see that movie sound of freedom. It was creepy, but people have to realize these things do happen. Let it be one of their children lost, and taken up onto one of those horrible things then maybe just maybe they would react and do the right thing instead of in on a pedestal, thinking they’re above anything,
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This country needs to get back to God. Not the god of this earth, the God our father in heaven. Pornography has been raging across the land. Jesus, I pray that You will be with these children, and that You will bring about the exposure of You little ones. Also, after watching City of Dreams, I cancelled my Temu account. I don’t want to be a party to any exploitation of children or adults for that matter.
