In a heartbreaking loss, Dr. Kelly Powers—Fox News commentator, podiatric surgeon, and mother—has passed away at 45. She succumbed to a relentless battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, on December 1, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, intelligence, and compassion.
Powers first captured national attention as a medical expert on Fox News, frequently appearing on the late-night talk show Red Eye and delivering health segments on Fox Business. Her commentary was sharp, her insights invaluable, and her passion for public health evident. However, her work in media was only a side project to her true calling—medicine.
A graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, Powers completed her residency at Boston University School of Medicine and built a thriving career as a podiatric surgeon. But fate had other plans.
In 2020, while reporting on heart health live on Fox Business, Powers began experiencing chest pains and shortness of breath. “I was literally talking about the signs of heart failure when I started feeling them myself,” she told Preferred Health Magazine. Diagnosed with heart failure shortly after, she underwent three surgeries. But just as she began to recover, another devastating diagnosis followed—glioblastoma.
Despite the odds, Powers refused to back down. She endured chemotherapy and radiation, all while managing a personal miracle. In the midst of her treatment, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Bennett. “I went through heart failure and cancer—and came out with a son. I’m the luckiest unlucky girl,” she often joked, according to a GoFundMe page created to support her medical expenses.
Her humor remained intact even as her health faltered. “When Bennett was a baby, we had matching haircuts because of my treatment,” she quipped, highlighting her ability to find light in even the darkest moments.
But in 2024, the cancer returned with a vengeance. Powers’ friends and family rallied, raising nearly $100,000 for an experimental treatment not covered by insurance. Tragically, the treatment could not save her.
Powers is survived by her husband, Steve, and their three-year-old son, Bennett. Her story of resilience and determination in the face of overwhelming odds has left an indelible mark on those who knew her and those who followed her journey.
A former colleague at Fox News reflected on her passing: “Kelly was more than just a doctor or commentator—she was a fighter. She gave her life to helping others, even while battling her own demons.”
Powers’ life was a testament to strength, love, and the power of hope. She once said, “If I can survive all this, anyone can.” Her legacy will undoubtedly inspire many to fight their battles with the same courage she displayed until the very end.

Sincerely Sorry for the lost, Prayerfully this young mother was a fighter, working for FOX, as far as I can tell, she had a relationship with King Jesus, that makes this sorrow … just a little bit better.
