Ivanka Trump let her guard down in a rare, emotional interview — and what she revealed left little doubt: the past few years have been a whirlwind of heartbreak, fear, and life-altering moments inside one of America’s most watched families.
Appearing on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, Ivanka, 44, was visibly shaken as she reflected on the personal struggles that have shaped her life — from losing her mother Ivana Trump to witnessing her father Donald Trump nearly killed in real time.
At several points during the nearly 90-minute sit-down, Ivanka fought back tears — even pausing to ask for a tissue — as she opened up about grief, family, and moments she says changed everything.
The most gut-wrenching moment came when she spoke about her children — Arabella, Joseph, and Theo — and the painful reality that they’ll never truly know their grandmother.
“She lived such a full, joyful life,” Ivanka said of Ivana, who died suddenly in 2022 after a fall at her New York townhouse. “But losing a parent… it hits differently. Especially when it’s unexpected.”
Her voice cracked as she described how her family keeps Ivana’s memory alive — relying heavily on her grandmother, Marie “Babi” Zelníčková, who now lives with them in Florida and plays a central role in her grandchildren’s lives.
“It’s a blessing to have her with us,” Ivanka said, tearing up. “She tells them stories about my mom… stories they otherwise wouldn’t hear.”
But the emotional revelations didn’t stop there.
Ivanka also opened up about her husband Jared Kushner and his quiet battle with thyroid cancer — a diagnosis that came while the couple was still navigating life inside the White House spotlight.
Behind the scenes, Kushner underwent surgery to remove a tumor during Trump’s first term, and later faced a second operation in 2022. Ivanka admitted the health scare pushed her to seek therapy as their lives spiraled with stress, uncertainty, and personal loss.
“Our life was in flux,” she said. “Jared’s diagnosis, leaving Washington, losing my mom… it was a lot all at once.”
And then came the moment that still haunts her.
Ivanka recalled watching the assassination attempt on her father unfold live on television while relaxing poolside with two of her children at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
“The TVs were on — I saw it almost immediately,” she said. “It was basically in real time.”
What she saw left her shaken.
“I was horrified. I was scared. And I was trying to protect my kids at the same time,” she said.
But in a moment she described as almost instinctive, Ivanka said she somehow knew her father would survive.
“When he stood back up, I just knew… it wasn’t his time.”
In a surprising twist, Ivanka also revealed she has chosen forgiveness — even for the man accused of carrying out the attack.
“It’s difficult, but I think you have to,” she said quietly.
Now living in Florida and focused on raising her family away from the political spotlight, Ivanka says the past few years have taught her one overwhelming lesson:
Nothing is guaranteed.
“You can’t take anything for granted,” she said. “Not your family, not your health, not a single moment.”
And if this emotional interview proves anything — it’s that even inside one of America’s most powerful families, life can change in an instant.
