Grammy-Winning Band Rocked by Murder Bombshell

A disturbing real-life drama is unfolding around one of rock’s biggest breakout bands — and it’s far darker than anything fans could’ve imagined.

Former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert is now facing attempted murder charges after police say he intentionally struck the 79-year-old father of his former bandmate with a car, leaving the elderly man with devastating injuries.

The incident reportedly happened on March 29 in a quiet residential area of Silver Spring, Maryland — a setting that quickly turned chaotic.

According to court documents, officers responded to a call about a pedestrian being hit. But this wasn’t a random accident, family members claim. They told investigators the driver was someone they knew all too well — a former friend of the family.

That driver, authorities say, was Ebert.

The 33-year-old musician — who helped form Turnstile back in 2010 alongside frontman Brendan Yates — was arrested the following day and is now being held without bond. He’s been charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.

And the details only get more chilling from there.

Family members told police that Ebert had been showing up at their home, allegedly yelling obscenities and honking his horn. At one point, Brendan Yates’ sister said she had to grab her young child and move out of the way, fearing things could turn violent.

Then, they say, it did.

Investigators claim Ebert struck William Yates with his vehicle, causing severe trauma to both of his legs. Even more shocking, the victim reportedly told police that Ebert returned after the incident and said he “deserved it.”

Authorities later tracked Ebert down at a nearby shopping center.

Behind the scenes, this wasn’t a sudden explosion — it may have been building for years.

Turnstile had already cut ties with Ebert in 2022, citing what they described as a “consistent pattern of harmful behavior” and escalating threats. In a rare and emotional statement, the band revealed they had tried to help him before ultimately distancing themselves when things became too dangerous.

“Healthy communication was no longer possible,” the group said, adding that his behavior had spiraled into public outbursts and ongoing threats.

Then came the moment they say changed everything.

The band confirmed that Ebert allegedly went to Brendan Yates’ parents’ home and carried out the attack — something they described as a devastating escalation of violence.

Despite the horror of the situation, there is a small piece of good news.

William Yates survived the attack and has already undergone surgery. The band says they’re hoping for the best as he continues to recover.

Meanwhile, Ebert’s legal team has declined to comment.

The fallout has been swift. Even after leaving Turnstile, Ebert’s post-band career appears to have unraveled. He was recently kicked out of another group, The S.E.T., over what they described as troubling behavior.

As for Turnstile, the band has continued to rise — releasing a new album in 2025 and taking home major wins at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

But now, that success is being overshadowed by a shocking and deeply personal crisis that no one saw coming.

What began as a neighborhood dispute has exploded into a headline-grabbing criminal case — one that could leave a permanent mark on everyone involved.
