Hollywood is saying goodbye to one of its most unforgettable faces.
Valerie Perrine — the actress best known for her role as Eve Teschmacher in the original Superman films — has died at the age of 82, according to reports first confirmed by TMZ.
The veteran star passed away Monday at her home, with the news later shared on her official social media page in an emotional tribute that stunned fans.
While an official cause of death has not been released, Perrine had been battling Parkinson’s disease for more than 15 years — a fight her family says she faced with “incredible courage and compassion.”
“She never once complained,” the tribute read. “She was a true inspiration who lived life to the fullest — and what a magnificent life it was. The world feels less beautiful without her in it.”
Her family added a deeply personal farewell: “I love you, Valerie. I’ll see you on the other side.”
In a heartbreaking twist, loved ones also revealed Perrine’s final wish — to be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery — and launched a GoFundMe campaign after years of medical expenses drained her finances.
Perrine became a household name in 1978 when she starred opposite Gene Hackman in Superman, playing Lex Luthor’s glamorous and often conflicted assistant, Eve Teschmacher. She reprised the role in Superman II, sharing the screen with icons like Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando.
Her performance struck a unique balance of charm, vulnerability, and humor — making her one of the most memorable characters in the franchise.
But Perrine’s talent stretched far beyond comic book blockbusters.
In 1974, she earned Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of Honey Bruce in Lenny, a role that cemented her as one of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses of the era.
She also picked up a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year earlier in her career, signaling what would become a decades-long presence on both the big and small screen.
Throughout the ’70s and ’80s — and well beyond — Perrine showcased her range across genres, appearing in everything from comedies to crime dramas.
Her credits included What Women Want, Walker, Texas Ranger, and Nash Bridges, proving her staying power in an industry known for short-lived fame.
Fans flooded her social media pages following news of her death, sharing memories, prayers, and tributes to the actress who helped define a generation of film.
In a poignant detail, Perrine herself paid tribute to her Superman co-star Gene Hackman following his death in 2025.
“He was a genius and one of the greatest to grace the silver screen,” she wrote at the time. “Goodbye my sweet Lex. Till we meet again.”
Now, fans are echoing those same words back to her.
A Hollywood era has quietly come to a close — and for many, the magic of Superman will never feel quite the same again.
