Plane Carrying 7 Plunges into Crocodile-Infested Waters Just Minutes After Takeoff

A routine flight turned into a nightmare straight out of a survival thriller when a small plane carrying seven people crashed into crocodile-infested waters off the coast of Western Australia — and incredibly, everyone lived to tell the tale.

The aircraft, a Cessna 441 Conquest twin-engine turboprop, went down just minutes after takeoff from Broome Airport around 11:25 a.m. Thursday. According to reports, the plane began experiencing engine trouble almost immediately, sending it into a terrifying descent over Roebuck Bay — an area known for its dangerous saltwater crocodiles.

Witnesses say the moment unfolded fast — and didn’t look good.

“I saw it flying and then dipping quite low,” said Alex MacNamara. “It looked like it was turning at an angle… then it just kept dropping.”

Within seconds, the aircraft vanished beyond the horizon and slammed into shallow ocean waters.

On board were two pilots and five passengers, heading toward Mungalalu Truscott Airport — more than 400 miles away — before disaster struck just three minutes into the flight.

Then came the real horror: the crash site was in waters known to be crawling with crocodiles.

Despite the chilling setting, all seven people somehow survived.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene as witnesses watched in shock. Fishing boats nearby saw helicopters and police vessels swarm the area.

“We saw the helicopter and then the police came with the boat,” said witness Bili Putra. “We zoomed in on our phone and saw someone being pulled from the water.”

One man in his 40s suffered minor head injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. Authorities say his injuries are not life-threatening. The remaining six passengers were treated at the scene after what officials are calling a miraculous survival.

Now, investigators are racing to figure out what went wrong.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has launched a full investigation and is urging anyone who captured video of the crash to come forward. A team is expected to comb through the wreckage, map the crash site, and analyze flight data, maintenance records, and weather conditions.

Officials say they will also interview the crew, passengers, and witnesses as they piece together the moments leading up to the terrifying plunge.

For now, one thing is clear — what could have been a deadly disaster in one of the most dangerous environments imaginable somehow ended with every life spared.
